Design of interpretation and interactive elements for the penguins at Whipsnade zoo
Visual concept was inspired by the swooping movement of penguins swimming, sliding and porpoising, with a palette that zinged.
Interactives included:
- Floor paintings showing penguin swimming routes for young visitors to follow, building excitement on the long approach path
- Life-size cutouts of all 18 penguin species, for the perfect photo opp
- Penguin prints painted on amphitheatre seating
- Spin-able panels with incredible penguin facts
Signage included:
- Over 30 panels exploring the different species, adaptation, plastic pollution and conservation efforts
- Large illustrated ‘exploded anatomy’ of swimming penguin
- Map of southern hemispere with distribution information
